Key Dates Secretaries & Presidents Headquarters Challenge Cup

Timeline development

Founded in 1887, with its first headquarters in the West End Hotel on Sheffield Road, the clubs stated aim was; "To give healthy exercise to all, and this will consist of cross country runs etc".
The years between 1887 and 2006 have produced too much history and members achievements to be covered adequately in an overview or summary.

The history section is therefore subdivided to include:-

A list of key dates achievements and occurrences from 1887 to the current year.
A list of Secretaries and Presidents
A list of headquarters used
A history of the Challenge, and a list of all winners of this event held annually since 1888.
A series of photographs showing members and memorabilia from the club's history

The club has had many talented and successful runners during its 118 years. These are shown in the separate section titled "Roll of Honour"
where you can find a more detailed account of those athletes who have been a part of this great club.

This history could not have been compiled without the invaluable source information contained in The History of Rotherham Harriers
and Athletic club, 1887-1979 by Eddie de Roeck, and the staff at the archives section of Rotherham Library. I am indebted to them-
without them I could not have completed this.
